A "Damn Shame"?

That's what one person in a gay Yahoo group had to say to this video below when it was posted under the headline "Whose younger brother is this -- and I do mean younger". The comments on Youtube for this video are harsh and deeply ignorant. "This gay shit is OUTTA CONTROL. The madness must STOP" "this boy is a fucking faggot." "Do you not have any masculine influences in your life? This is not cool son." I've come to expect that level of ignorance from the masses who comment on YouTube. But for a gay man to say this kid's performance is a "damn shame" leaves me speechless. I just had to share that with everyone because the depth of self-loathing in our community leaves me weak sometimes.

Chris Engan ~ Another Nobody makes a name being Anti-Gay!

No tiara this time, although when Chris Engan ⇐ of the daytime soap The Young & The Restless stormed off the set because of an impending *gasp* gay kiss storyline, a diva crown was certainly in order. Egan hasn't taken the Miss Calfornia-esque postition ("I was raised to believe," yada yada) yet, but one is left to assume. One peek at Engan's Myspace page comments tells us that every one of his commments supports his "principles" save for one who was disappointed in Chris. Okay, thing is, this is a soap opera, a telenovela, where the characters lie to, embezzle from, hump, fornicate, rape and murder almost every every other character on the show at one point or another. That's why people watch. And for anyone to suggest, especially a nobody like Engan, that a brief portrayal of Same Gender Love is beneath these things makes me fighting mad! But it gets deeper. Take a gander at who he was slated to suck face with. Yeah, none other than Yani Gellman ⇑ who plays the character Rafe. Pictured below when he appeared in the Matthew Shepard Story, Gellman refers to Rafe as a "landmark role" for The Young and the Restless and adds that "it's about time" that the show tackled the subject of homosexuality. Gellman states that he has several gay family members, and some of his friends are also part of the gay community. Now Yani is on my radar, for the right reasons. Go Rafe, er, Gellman. And I'd suck face with you any day. As for Chris Engan, as his career circles the bowl with Miss Califonia's, he can suck something else. ~

The cure for Black Homophobia is in OUR HANDS!

It's been said the black gay community won't show up for activist type events. The picture above was taken during the '07 Pride in the City party on Riis beach. It doesn't adequately convey the massive amount of folks there that day - but just imagine the camera scrolling down the beach, north and south, shoreline to pier, a sea of same gender loving men and women in varying shades of brown. It was an awesome sight. Unfortunately, getting that same crowd to care about serious issues can be like banging your head against a wall. The argument: What do we care about marriage? My answer: I don't care about marriage, per se. It's the principle. It's all about the principle. One day all this won't matter. One day we'll all have equal rights and people will wonder why those back in the day folks were so ignorant. Yet, the black community is still largely more homophobic than others. Why? Could it have anything to do with the fact that of the thousands of people at the marriage equality rally in NYC yesterday, there were only a sprinkling of black faces in the crowd? The cast of HAIR singing 'Let the Sun Shine In', which was a rousing crowd pleaser and perfect counterpoint to NOM's ignorant & ominous 'Gathering Storm' ad. If we don't rise up as black gay people and take a stand, then we can't bitch & moan either. Can't have it both ways. If we can support SIZZLE and all the other circuit events, then we damn sure better recognize that the right to have those parties didn't arrive out of thin air. Wake up people. ~~

New York City Marriage Equality Rally! Tell Everyone!

ACTION = MARRIAGE EQUALITY Broadway Impact invites you to a Marriage Equality Rally on Sunday, May 17th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at 6th Avenue and 45th Street. We are so close and have to do everything we can to make sure New York joins the momentum that is sweeping the nation. We have just six weeks to get the people to call their senators and make their voices heard before the session ends and the bill dies. The National Organization of Marriage (the anti-gay organization that created the "Gathering Storm" video and now have Miss CA as their spokesperson) will be protesting at Governor Paterson's Manhattan office on Sunday. They are protesting him for presenting the marriage equality bill and being such a strong supporter of civil rights. As a response to their protest we are throwing a Marriage Equality Rally in Midtown to show the Governor and the State of New York, that we support equality for all. Student Suspended From Christian College for Appearing in, (gasp), Gay Porn!

Christian teens have always been hot in the pants. I know. I used to be one. So it comes as no surprise that when one at Grove Christian College allegedly made $11G's for a one weekend gay film fuck fest, another student "stumbled upon" the images on the net and they soon flew around the school. Here's the funny part, and its not from The Onion. When he broke the news, his mother started "praying and fasting." Oh yeah, that'll erase pics on sonny boy tea-bagging and sucking and fucking from the net. Way to go mom -- but I say if he really made 11grand in one weekend, you should send him back out there. I know if anyone wants to pay me 11G for a weekend of screwing beautiful young guys I'm so there. ~~

⇒ Congresswoman Barbara Lee joined Oakland, Calif., Mayor Ron Dellums last year in officiating same-sex marriage ceremonies. She also voted last month in favor of a Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, for which she released a statement. She is chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, and her official Web site contains a section for gay and lesbian issues.
	⇐ Anthony Woods is a gay African-American, 29yr old, Army veteran, who received one of the nation's highest medals for bravery, has announced that he will add his name to the growing list of Democrats seeking to replace the outgoing U.S. Rep. Ellen Tauscher in the 10th Congressional District - California. Woods, who announced his candidacy [recently], immediately joins a crowded candidate field includes Lt. Gov. John Garamendi and freshman Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan. A West Point graduate who rose to the rank of captain in the Army, Woods served two tours in Iraq and was awarded the Bronze Star [and] ended his military career last year when he told his commanding officer that he was gay. "I just got tired of living a lie," the 29-year-old Woods told the Sacramento Bee during last weekend's California Democratic Party Convention. ⇒ Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick stood by his daughter as she came out as a lesbian and marched with her in Boston's annual gay pride parade last year. Patrick previously led his state's effort to save same-sex marriages from a legal challenge that would have discontinued the practice in the state. Massachusetts was the first state to allow gay couples to wed in 2004. In explaining his position on marriage equality, he refers to the fundamental principle that "citizens come before their government as equals.” Elected in November 2006, Patrick is the first black governor of Massachusetts, and the third black governor in U.S. history. He plans to seek re-election in 2010.

Ex-Crack-Head Mayor Gone Wild!

We all heard ←Marion Barry -- the city councilmember, who, when he was Mayor of DC, got caught cheating on his wife and smoking crack with a Prostitute -- and as the cops busted in on the pair, he uttered famously, "The bitch set me up!" -- said that DC blacks might wage "civil war" over allowing homosexuals to marry. Oddly enough, Barry, allegedly, has supported gay rights in the past. But now he claims to be doing the bidding of his constituents. And if that's true, well, will cowardly crack-head wonders never cease. The people who he claims won't stand for gay marriage are the same fools who elected a disgraced, lying, cheating crack-head to the city council who votes on bills he later claims he didn't understand. I'm not so much saying his constituents ain't worth shit, I am saying a politician who has no stand of his own isn't. Keep passing that pipe Barry.
