Although Kevin Logan dressed as a girl all year long, he was denied access to his prom for wearing a dress. But that's not the worst of it for me, for stories like this have become the norm in the wannabe Theocratic States of America. What shocked me more is the amount of ridicule thrown around the net from the black gay community. Under the subject line in one yahoo group, Just Another Hot Mess!, one mature same gender loving man whom I love and respect said,
"Well, I'm not biased against drag queens, female impersonators or trannies but still feel the school had the right to prohibit her/his admittance. I mean, I'm not biased against them but he wouldn't be attending my karate class like that no matter what he feels his rights are. I hate seeing these isolated cases brought to the forefront of the news to highlight the "gay" experience since this type of thing is NOT the gay experience (if there is such a thing) at all."
Another blogger, whom I also respect and read regularly, said,
"I seen this news piece. That boy looked and sounded like a hot mess, but then again, I am biased against drag queens, female impersonators, trannies, etc."
Well, I think the issue of whether the boy is a ‘hot mess’ can possibly be substantiated. But if he were the spitting image of Halle Berry, with all her class and beauty, would it be more acceptable?
