In succinct mayor to mayor style, NYC's former urged Newark's current to action over the police gay-sex-sting shooting death of a 48-year-old Georgia man, Defarra "Dean" Gaymon. Branch Brook park where the shooting occurred is notorious for gay hook-ups. Some assume that the married w/4 children Gaymon, a former NJ resident, knew this and was there sex. Whatever the case, a family is still reeling and the city isn't investigating what's obvious to the former Mayor - a malfunction in how the police handle the problem of public sex.
Here's a portion of the Koch email to Booker:
Truer words were never said. We hope Cory Booker is listening.
Our hearts bleed for Gaymon's family. But there's a subtext to the matter. And as someone said just yesterday that if Gaymon were openly gay or bi-sexual, he'd never have achieved such success in life. Possibly. One thing is for sure though, a life lived deceiving all those you love rarely ends well. ~
