Since he was first ushered in as governor, I've liked David A. Paterson. I'd heard he was an ally in the fight for equality, but it was more than just that. It was a vibe, a gut feeling; they never seem to let me down. This NY TIMES piece gives us a better understanding of the new governor and his recent news that NY State will recognize same sex marriages sanctioned from other states.
His position is stronger than either one of the democratic presidential candidates, at least on the record. I firmly believe Obama will prove to be the strongest advocate of our rights once elected. Gov. Paterson went on to make a statement that only makes me love him more and wish him a very long career in public office:
My gut feeling is still serving me well. I feel all warm and fuzzy. I know I took up for Spitzer here and here because I firmly believe prositution should be legalized, but I'm SOOOOOO glad he's gone now. Who knew?
